‘No confirmation whether the same assailant was involved in the Guntur attack as well’
Police officials investigating the November 19 attack on Jyothi Uday in an ATM kiosk said that they are co-ordinating with the Anantapur police and are hopeful of tracing the assailant soon.
An officer said there had been reports of the assailant being seen in Anantapur district . Police are also attempting to trace him through mobile phone signals.
On Friday, Ms. Jyothi was shifted out of the Intensive Care Unit of BGS Global Hospitals to a general ward.
Regarding reports circulating about a woman identified as Leelamma being killed in Guntur in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday night, police said that there is no confirmation that the same man was involved.
Incidentally, Guntur is located very close to Hindupur, where the assailant had gone soon after the attack in Bangalore, to sell the victim’s mobile phone. The police said their teams are still carrying out investigations in neighbouring states.
