Police fire at fleeing burglars

Policemen attached to Vidyaranyapura Station opened fired at two burglars when they attacked the police party, injuring one sub-inspector, in a bid to escape near Lakshmipura in the early hours of Friday. Sub-inspector Annaiah, and both the accused — Ashok and Narayanaswamy — who were injured in the firing have been admitted to private hospital and are said to be out of danger.

The accused were intercepted by a night beat police team while they were trying to brake open a shop. The police tried to catch them, but they attacked the police and began to flee. In an effort to neutralise them, the police opened fire and injured them.
