The City police have filed an interim charge sheet in the murder of Father K. J. Thomas, Rector of St. Peter’s Pontifical Seminary in Bangalore, accusing Father Ilyas and Father William Patrick of murdering the rector in March last year. According to the interim charge sheet filed before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Fr. Ilyas and Fr. Patrick had submitted a proposal to set up a seminary in the local language at St. Peter’s Pontifical Seminary. However, their proposal was turned down, which enraged the duo.

The two, along with three of their associates conspired to steal certain documents related to the Seminary with the alleged intent to bring disrepute to the institution. When the accused were caught red-handed by the rector while stealing , they bludgeoned Father Thomas to death. A 535-page charge sheet containing over 100 witnesses stated that the duo was also frustrated over being neglected by the Seminary.
