Police crack murder case

November 21, 2012 09:05 am | Updated 09:05 am IST - HUBLI:

The woman whose partially burnt body was found on the outskirts of Hubli recently has been identified as Fathima Daval Sheikh (37).

Two persons have been arrested in connection with the murder — the woman’s husband, Daval Hussein Sheikh (40) and his friend Rafiq Mehaboobsab Kagadgar (23), both residents of Sakkubath Area in Madagaon, Goa.

Fathima’s body was found on a farmland on the outskirts of Hubli on November 5.

An email from the Goa police provided the Kasabapet police a clue about the possible abduction and murder of the woman.

A thorough investigation revealed that Daval Shiekh suspected his wife of infidelity and with Rafiq’s help murdered her and dumped her body on the outskirts of Hubli. The Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner has announced an award for the Kasabapet police.
