Fans here have to wait for another day to know the status on the screening of the Kamal Haasan starrer Vishwaroopam as the State police have decided to wait for the Madras High Court judgment, expected to be delivered on Tuesday.
While the film was to hit the screens in about 40 cinemas across the State — 12 of them in Bangalore — on Sunday, screening was deferred on the advice of the police after violence broke out in Mysore and Bhadravati.
“We will wait for the High Court judgment,” Additional Director-General of Police Bipin Gopalkrishna told The Hindu .
He, however, did not wish to comment when his attention was drawn to some senior police officials, including Bangalore Police Commissioner B.G. Jyothi Prakash Mirji, watching the film at the Renukamba cinema here to decide on the film’s content before being allowed to be released.
Meanwhile, H.D. Gangaraj of Shakti Enterprises, which has taken the distribution rights in the Old Mysore area, said that he has decided to seek police security to release the film.
“We are trying to get it released here on Tuesday,” he said and added that he had already suffered huge losses.
