The Byatarayanapura police have arrested a 33-year-old man for luring hoteliers and businessmen with false business deals.

According to the police, the accused, S. Lokesh, a resident of Nagarabhavi, was nabbed after a hotelier from Mysore filed a complaint alleging that he had duped him of Rs. 15,000. Lokesh confessed to have cheated around 10 hotels in and around the city.

The police, quoting Lokesh, said he used to approach hotels posing as the executive of a company promising to organise an event. He would place an order to arrange food for 700 participants. Lokesh would issue a cheque to them for the amount quoted by the hotel and in turn would demand they give him a Rs. 15,300 cheque as security deposit.

Police said Lokesh had not only cheated hotels but also many poultry farms in and around the city in a similar fashion.

Lokesh was a habitual offender and duped of small amounts so they would not complain.
