The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board has reminded Bangloreans this Ganesh festival too to use only clay idols painted with natural dyes.

In an advisory, the board also suggested that those celebrating the festival should immerse the idols in a bucket or mobile immersion tanks at designated places.

Decorations such as flowers and leaves must be removed before the immersion. Garbage generated during the celebration should not be dumped on the road, the statement said.

Protecting the city’s wells, lakes and rivers would help maintain the quality of underground water and drinking water resources, it said.

The board also advised against bursting crackers.

It has prohibited the use of loud speakers between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
