Khasakkinte Ithihasam ( The Legends of Khasak ), a Malayalam play, based on O.V. Vijayan’s novel will be staged on May 7 and 8 at Christ School Ground, behind Christ University. The 205-minute play with English subtitle is directed by Deepan Sivaraman.
The theatre has been set up in an open-air arena with extensive use of fire, soil, water, scent, fog, light, music, video, masks and puppets, theyyam performance and many more. Play director Mr. Sivaraman said doing this play, which has many characters, has been a great challenge. “I have never done a production of this scale in terms actors and technicians,” he said.
Renowned Kannada film maker Girish Kasaravalli said O.V.Vijayan was an important writer in Malayalam in the Indian context and his Khasakkinte Ithihasam is a metaphorical novel.
The play starts at 7 p.m. with an hour-long prelude from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are available on bookmyshow.com and at Rangoli Metro Art Centre.
