Plastic ban: fine on shops in Ulsoor mall

Continuing their crackdown on the use of plastic bags, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike officials paid a visit to shops in Lido Mall and the Big Bazaar supermarket in Ulsoor on Thursday. They seized plastic bags weighing 632 kg from the mall and the supermarket, and levied fines totalling Rs. 2,70,000. On Wednesday, they had visited shops in UB City on Lavelle Road, Central Mall in Bellandur and Pheonix Market City in Whitefield. After finding plastic bags, they levied fines of Rs. 10 lakh.
