Students from across Karnataka appeared for the Postgraduate Entrance Test 2013 (PGET) here on Sunday, even though the Supreme Court has yet to decide on the validity of the Postgraduate National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-PG) conducted last year.
Strict security measures were enforced at test centres, including cameras in classrooms and metal detectors at the entrances.
Students who spoke to The Hindu said they were worried about the validity of the exam.
Radha Priya, a graduate of the JSS Medical College, Mysore said: “NEET provides a fair chance to students.” Another student, on condition of anonymity, told The Hindu that she had been unsure about appearing for the PGET.
“There is so much confusion about the validity of the exam. Because of this, I have been disturbed and this attempt has not been my best,” she said while coming out of the test centre.
Meanwhile, Ashok Kumar N.S., Registrar (Evaluation), Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, said that of the 10,977 students who registered for the exam, 95 per cent had appeared, and no malpractices had been reported in the exam.
The evaluation process would be completed next week, he added.
Court directions
He stated that as per the Supreme Court directions, the university had been directed not to announce the results until a decision on NEET was taken.
