The owner of the paying guest accommodation at Electronic City where a techie was allegedly raped by a cab driver has been arrested and named as the second accused in the case. The Electronic City police have arrested Srinivasa Reddy on the charge of destroying evidence in the room of the PG located at Doddateguru.

The police alleged that Reddy washed the entire room removing the blood stains, fingerprints and footprints from the premises. “Moreover, despite running a PG facility, he did not have adequate security to ensure protection of women inmates,” the police said. Reddy stays in the ground floor of the building. According to the police, the victim reached out to Reddy for help after the alleged assault. When the victim narrated her ordeal, he, instead of helping, warned her against filing a police complaint and told her to vacate the room immediately. “He then rushed to the crime scene and washed the room to hush up the incident,” a source in the police said.

The victim was shocked by this development. She informed her parents and approached the police the next day. They booked Srinivasa Reddy under Section 204 (destroying evidence) of the IPC and arrested him, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south east) T. D. Pawar said.
