The family members of the security guard who was killed when a wall of a petrol station collapsed on him in Seshadripuram on Wednesday have filed an additional complaint against the Indian Oil Corporation.
The deceased, Krishna (40), a resident of Rajajinagar, was posted as a security guard for a railway land adjoining the bunk when the wall collapsed, killing him on the spot. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Police suspect that the wall had become damp, which caused it to weaken and collapse. The Seshadripuram police have registered a case against the petrol bunk dealer, R.A. Narayan.
However, Narayan’s lawyer claimed that the collapsed wall is constructed by the IOC and not the dealer. In a statement, he said: “The Indian Oil Corporation has leased the premises from Railways, constructed the building and structure and then given a licence to R. A. Narayan, who is dealer on behalf of the IOC for retail sale of Petroleum products. IOC applies for the building plan from Municipal Authorities.” The Seshadripuram police, however, said no case had been registered against the IOC.
