Two bike-borne men attacked and robbed the manager of a BPCL petrol station at Rajarajeshwarinagar on Monday.

The victim, Swamy P.C., was on his way to a bank on a two-wheeler to deposit the cash that had been collected the previous day when two men on a bike intercepted him, around 10.15 a.m. He was carrying a bag containing ₹19.8 lakh.

According to the police, the pillion rider sprayed something on Swamy’s face that caused his eyes to sting.

In his statement to the police, Mr. Swamy said he stopped the two-wheeler and shouted for help. However, before anyone could respond, they threatened him with a machete, snatched the cash bag and sped away. Passers-by took Mr. Swamy to a hospital nearby from where he was shifted to an eye-care centre. The R.R. Nagar police are analysing CCTV camera footage from the area to identify the accused.
