Pedestrian dies after being knocked down by speeding bus

A 35-year-old pedestrian was killed on the spot when a speeding private bus knocked him down in T. Dasarahalli on Friday night.

The bus was on its way to Tumkur from the city, when it knocked down the pedestrian who is yet to be identified. Passers-by rushed to help, but the driver, sensing trouble, abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.

Enraged residents staged a protest demanding better facilities for pedestrians. The Penya traffic police rushed to the spot and resorted to mild lathi-charge to disperse the agitated crowd. The body has been shifted to M.S. Ramaiah hospital. The police have taken up a case.
