While the traffic police and the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) are upbeat about reintroducing pay-and-park system in the city, the voices of opposition are getting louder.

On Monday, Save Bangalore Committee (SBC) opposed the BBMP’s “unjustified move” and raised slogans at a protest organised at Mysore Bank Circle hereChetana, a resident of Kengeri, said, “Even after paying parking fee, there is no guarantee that your vehicle will be safe. The officials cannot be held responsible in case of damage and theft.” She said that the BBMP would also push for road widening and creating parking spaces.

“This will only benefit the contractors and the officials. The common man who has lost his land to this ‘development’ will not be compensated,” she added.
