Passengers miss train as departure time changed

January 22, 2015 01:23 pm | Updated 01:23 pm IST - Bengaluru:

As many as 150 passengers scheduled to take the Garib Rath Express to Secunderabad from Yeswanthpur Railway Station missed the train as they had no information about a change in the departure time.

Sunanda Arul, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, South Western Railway (SWR), said that the departure time was changed from 7.15 pm to 1.30 pm from Wednesday. While tickets issued by reservation centres reflected the new timings, passengers who bought tickets from the IRCTC website were affected, as they saw the old time on the website.

She said a majority of the agitated passengers were accommodated in Sampark Kranti Express to which three coaches were attached and which left at 10.15 pm. Of the rest, some passengers going to Yadgir and Raichur were accommodated in Sholapur Express. At least 15 passengers were given a full refund.

Anil Agarwal, DRM, Divisional Railway Manager, SWR, said that IRCTC had communicated to SWR more than once that the change in departure time had been noted. However, he said, “IRCTC failed to reflect the change on its website.”
