Parvez Khokar hailed from Punjab and lived with his wife for over a decade in Bengaluru. The couple has two daughters, both of whom are settled in Delhi.
Apart from being the Air Commodore with the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE), Mr. Khokhar was also the chief test pilot for the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft programme and also a consultant for Boeing and Gripen aircraft.
He was the Indian Air Attache in Islamabad, Pakistan, from 1993 to 1996.
“Mr. Khokhar was a very upfront and straightforward man. He was very knowledgeable about aviation. I just spoke to him on Saturday and it was a shock when I heard he was murdered,” said a friend of Mr. Khokhar, who did not want to be identified.
Air Commodore Ashit Mehta remembered him as a thorough professional and a fine gentleman.
Many of his acquaintances took to social media to condole his death. Journalist Ajai Shukla wrote on Facebook. “Just received the terrible news that my good friend Air Commodore Parvez Khokhar (retd.) has been found murdered in Bangalore. An outstanding aviator and a lion-hearted man and a yaaron-ka-yaar. Rest in Peace, my friend.”
