Stung by the steep increase in tuition fee announced by the management of a private school, parents of the students enrolled in the school staged a dharna seeking a withdrawal of the decision to hike fees here on Saturday.

The parents learnt of the hike in the fee of the Chamarajendra Ursu Boarding School, Chamarajapuram, when they went to the school to collect the marks-cards of their children, and staged a snap demonstration in protest against the hike.

The increase was reckoned to be almost twice the fee of the past academic year, and hence the parents of the students urged the school authorities to retain the earlier structure. A meeting of the school management and the parents is slated for Monday and the parents have threatened to withdraw their wards from the school, if their demand was not met.
