A suspicious looking message circulated on a mobile messaging app sent students into a tizzy as it turned out to be the questions they would be attempting in the sixth semester B.Com. exam on Tuesday. On realising that they were worth 24 marks, Bangalore University (BU) postponed the exam to May 11.
The decision will affect 28,567 students from 600 colleges. Not only this, anticipating anxiety over the Management Accounting and Principles of Auditing exams, BU decided to postpone them as well. “Fresh question papers will be prepared for these exams too,” BU Registrar (Evaluation) Ningegowda K.N. said. What is even more shocking is that the two questions, carrying 16 and eight marks respectively, were found in all three manuscripts for ‘Elective Paper – IV’ exam. One of the three is picked out randomly before the start of the exam.
Prof. Ningegowda said this indicated that the questions were set with a malafide intention.
“We suspect that someone in the Board of Examiners is involved . We are forming a committee to look into the matter before handing over the case to the police. If there is involvement of anyone from the university, we will not hesitate to take action against them,” he said.
