Traffic movement at the busy Yeshwantpur Circle was disrupted for sometime when a motorcycle caught fire in the middle of the road on Saturday. According to eyewitness accounts, a motorcycle rider screeched to a halt and ran for cover, leaving his two-wheeler behind. That was when passersby noticed that the motorcycle was on fire.

In panic, motorists behind the burning motorcycle tried to steer clear of it. A few passersby tried to douse the fire by throwing mud and water on it. But despite their efforts, the motorcycle was soon engulfed in flames. Fire and Emergency Services personnel were able to contain and put out the fire. The police have seized the motorcycle for further investigation.

“The motorcycle rider, Devan Kumar, a resident of Jalahalli, was on his way home, and he told us he had no idea what caused the fire,” said a police officer said.
