Panel to study pay scales of other States

June 15, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:15 pm IST - BENGALURU:

To set right injustice meted out to police constables in pay scale, the State government has decided to set up a five-member committee to study the prevailing pay scales in other States by taking into consideration workload and other factors. The committee would be asked to submit its report in four weeks.

Home Minister G. Parameshwara told presspersons here on Tuesday that the pay scale of constable was compared with that of the Second Division Assistant (SDA). But the nature of work of SDAs and constables was totally different.

Constables had planned to go strike on June 4 demanding a higher pay scale and better working conditions, including weekly off. They withdrew the strike plan following assurances from the government that their demands would be looked into.
