Over 100 constables under CCB scanner

June 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:56 pm IST - Bengaluru:

In the run-up to the mass leave threat by the constabulary in the State on June 4, which later fizzled out, over 100 police personnel were in constant touch with Shashidhar Venugopal, president of the Akhila Karnataka Police Maha Sangha, investigations by the Central Crime Branch have revealed.

The CCB learnt about this after screening the Call Detail Records (CDR) of Mr. Venugopal’s mobile phone. A majority of the police personnel from across the State who were in regular touch with Mr. Venugopal were constables, CCB sources said, and added that they would be summoned for questioning. A CCB team is investigating the case to establish links between serving police personnel and Mr. Venugopal, who is in judicial custody since June 3.
