Outrage over police apathy over Delhi child rape

April 21, 2013 09:58 am | Updated November 16, 2021 08:14 pm IST - Bangalore:

Members of the All-India Mahila Samskruthika Sanghatane (AIMSS), All-India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) and All-India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDSO) jointly staged a demonstration here, protesting against the horrific rape and brutalisation of a five-year-old in New Delhi earlier in the week.

Addressing the protesters at Mysore Bank Circle on Saturday, AIMSS State president Prathibha Kumari said: “The girl was repeatedly raped for three days and severely assaulted. We condemn police inaction in searching the missing child, and worse, trying to bribe her parents to keep quiet.”

Recent incidents

Recent incidents where a police officer in Lucknow was filmed kicking and manhandling women protesters and another police atrocity where a rape victim was thrashed for wanting to lodge an FIR goes on to prove that entire administration had become pro-rapists and pro-criminals, Ms. Kumari charged.

AIDYO State vice-president of N. Ravi said police callousness had emboldened criminals.
