One held for K.G. Halli murder

March 22, 2013 08:51 am | Updated 08:51 am IST - Bangalore:

The K.G. Halli police have arrested Hasan, a member of the armed gang that allegedly hacked to death Mohammed Yaseen (22) while trying to kill his older brother on Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) T.G. Krishna Bhat said that Hasan was part of the notorious Toufiq gang, which is involved in several criminal cases in the area. Toufiq wanted to eliminate Yaseen’s older brother, Mohammed Ameen, a police informer. “We have some leads on the whereabouts of the gang,” he said, adding that Hasan was produced before the court on Thursday and taken into police custody for further questioning.

Tuesday’s incident

The brothers were at the Govindapura Cross bus-stop when four masked men on two bikes attacked them. While Yaseen faced the gang to protect his brother, Ameen took to his heels. The younger man, grievously injured on his neck and chest, died in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Medical Hospital.
