December 16, 2014 01:53 am | Updated 01:53 am IST - BENGALURU:

Officials of the Transport Department inspected the office of Uber, the mobile phone application-based cab aggregator, on Monday.

Transport Commissioner Rame Gowda said, "We inspected the Uber office as it was operating without permit and registration. Also, their representatives didn't attend the meeting that was held recently for all cab aggregators on the subject of registration and following the 25-point permit conditions. Let them register. Otherwise, who will take responsibility for (passengers of) Uber cabs?”

The permit conditions include verifying the background of drivers and installing digital meters.

He said that cabs were using the banner and monogram of the company and operating without registration.

According to officials of the Department, the office was inspected at 4 p.m. and a report would be prepared and sent to the government.
