Now, property ID numbers

August 28, 2012 09:49 am | Updated 09:49 am IST - Bangalore:

To include the 16 lakh properties in Bangalore under the tax net, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will issue Property Identity (PID) numbers to all property owners from September 15. Chairperson of Standing Committee for Taxation and Finance K.A. Muneendra Kumar told reporters in Bangalore on Monday that with PID, the BBMP can collect more revenue.

He said that PID scheme was “in the final stages”. While properties in the core zones of the BBMP have been given the numbers, those in the newly added zones are yet to get the numbers. With the PID, revenue authorities can keep a better track of tax collections.
