Notice to BBMP on appointments

September 27, 2013 12:26 am | Updated November 16, 2021 09:55 pm IST - Bangalore:

The Karnataka High Court on Thursday issued a notice to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the State government acting on a public interest litigation (PIL) petition questioning the appointment of two retired public servants on contract.

The petition has challenged the appointments of Cheluvaiah (67), as the BBMP’s Project Engineer (Road Infrastructure), and N. Madaiah, (67) as its legal advisor. In his petition, D.T. Madhu, a resident of Vijayanagar, said that the two appointments violated the provisions of the Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, and that the posts were also created in violation of the norms.
