Elaborate security arrangements have been made as a rush is expected from candidates and their supporters to file nomination papers here on Monday.

Police Commissioner H. Raghavendra Auradkar said that jurisdictional police officers have been instructed to step up security measures in and around the Returning Officers (RO) premises by barricading the area.

This is in addition to the prohibitory orders promulgated under Section 144 of Cr.PC in and around these office. The police have been instructed to videograph the event.

The jurisdictional traffic police have been instructed to take steps to ensure smooth flow of traffic. Besides the restrictions announced by the Election Commission for the candidate and their supporters for filing nomination papers, the candidates have to seek prior permission from the electoral officer and the jurisdictional police for taking out processions, Mr. Auradkar said.

Meanwhile, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) M.A. Saleem said that there would not be much traffic problem as now there are 28 offices spread across the city.
