The post-mortem of the Nigerian man, who died under mysterious circumstances recently, was conducted at Bowring Hospital here on Saturday after the Airport Traffic police received a no objection certificate from the Nigerian Embassy.
While the police say that Ifeanyi Nduku died because of a motor accident, several organisations representing people from countries in Africa residing in Bengaluru, allege that he was a victim of police brutality.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Traffic Renuka K. Sukumar, who is heading the investigation, said that they are awaiting for the post-mortem report, which will shed some light on how Ifeanyi died.
The post-mortem was conducted before two government officials and a representative of the Nigerian Community Association along with police officers as witnesses.
The Nigerian Community Association, which has obtained a police clearance to claim the body, will consult with FRRO and the Nigerian Embassy over performing the last rites. It is yet to be decided whether Ifeanyi will buried here or taken back to his home country.
Meanwhile, the police are yet to identify the rider who fled the scene after the incident.
