Journalists and employees of various newspapers and news agencies on Tuesday staged a dharna here in protest against the delay in notification of Justice Majithia wage board recommendations.

The dharna, held in response to a call by Confederation of Newspaper and News Agency Employees’ Organisations, saw journalists and non-journalist staff holding aloft placards and shouting slogans against the government for delay in notification.

Employees came down on the government for sitting on the wage board recommendations, submitted to it by the chairperson of the wage board Justice (Retired) G R Majithia on Dec 31, 2010.

Karnataka Union of Working Journalists, Bangalore Newspaper Employees Union, Journalists Association of Karnataka, Federation of PTI Employees Union and UNI Workers Union were among those who participated in the dharna.
