Two persons ended their lives by hanging themselves in separate incidents in the city since Monday evening.

A 20-year-old newly wed woman ended her life at her residence in Govindarajanagar in Vijayanagar police limits on Monday evening.

Sana, a homemaker, was found hanging from the ceiling by her husband Zameer Ahmed (30), a software engineer in a private company, when he returned from work. According to Vijayanagar police, the couple had argued over a trivial issue the previous day.

Sana and Ahmed got married on April 22 this year. Police said that Sana, a native of Bijapur, wanted to visit her parents for Ramzan, but her husband reportedly stopped her from going. Police suspect that she was upset over the issue and committed suicide. A case of unnatural death has been registered.

In the other incident, a 44-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Lakshmipura in Ulsoor on Monday night. The deceased Kiran, who was reportedly suffering from a terminal disease, was found hanging from the railings of a staircase by residents early Tuesday morning.

Kiran, a native of Madikeri, was employed in a private company.

The police are yet to ascertain the reason for the suicide. An autopsy was conducted at Bowring Hospital. A case has been registered.
