New park for Mahalakshmi Layout

Mayor S.K. Nataraj on Saturday announced a slew of projects in Mahalakshmi Layout, including a new park, and improvement of the playground and the roads.

He made the announcement at a programme to distribute possession certificates to slum-dwellers in the area.

M. Nagaraj, Leader of the Opposition in the Council, suggested that absolute sale deeds could be given instead of possession certificates as it would make it easier for people to get bank loans.

N.L. Narendra Babu, MLA, said about 4,000 sale deeds have already been distributed, while 247 possession certificates would be given to those eligible in his constituency, and added that irons and sewing machines would be distributed to those belonging to backward classes soon.

He said the Shankarnag Bus Station in Kamalanagar would be modernised and assured the gathering that measures were being taken to arrest the spread of dengue.

Also present were Leader of the ruling party in the Council B.S. Satyanarayana and Joint Commissioner of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike's West division V.P. Ikkeri.
