The third three-day national dance and music festival titled Avismriti-2016, organised by Jupiter Arts Foundation, will begin from May 27. Eminent dancers from across the country will perform.

Avismriti programme director Nandana Krishnakumar told presspersons here on Monday that the inaugural programme will feature a dance by Padmashree K.S., a disciple of Bharatanatyam dancer Rukmini Vijayakumar, at 5.30 p.m. This will be followed by a solo Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music performance by the previous year’s Avismriti winners at 6 p.m.

On May 29, students of Master of Fine Arts, Sastra University, Thanjavur, will perform ‘Arpanam’ dance, an offering to Indian classical Bharatanatyam dancer Padma Subrahmanyam, at 6 p.m. As part of the festival, a two-day dance workshop will be organised and conducted by Manjula Amaresh from May 27 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Ms. Krishnakumar said.
