Over 40 Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Service (BMTC) bus passengers had a narrow escape after the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a petrol pump at Hudson circle on Thursday.

Fortunately the petrol pump was dry and hence did not explode, police said. Police rushed to the spot and arrested the driver Neelappa.

The bus, on route 340, was on its way to Parangipalya from Majestic bus stand. Police suspect a technical snag in the bus could have led to the mishap.
