Glimpses of some rare photographs of the doyenne of Carnatic music, the late M.S. Subbulakshmi, along with the music clippings of her repertoire will be available for connoisseurs at the M.S. Subbulakshmi Art Gallery on the Tumkur University campus.
Unveiled on Friday
The gallery, along with a four-and-a-half-foot bronze statue of the doyenne sitting with her tamboori, and a bronze bust of shehnai maestro Bismillah Khan, will be unveiled by Governor H.R. Bhardwaj at the university campus on Friday.
Permanent exhibition
Sources in the university said that Radha Vishwanathan, MS’s daughter and disciple, contributed generously with some 300 rare photographs of the music legend, besides a large collection of music clippings. The photo exhibition is a permanent one, which would be open for public, sources said.
While the State Bank of Mysore donated funds for the gallery, the university funded the statue and the bust, sources said. The gallery would be of help to the students of Bachelor of Fine Arts course run by the university.
