Motorcycle rider crushed to death by BMTC bus

A 22-year-old motorcycle rider was killed on the spot and the pillion rider injured when a speeding BMTC bus ran over them near Agalakote Cross in Devanahalli on Thursday.

While Vijaya Kumar, a private firm employee, was crushed to death, pillion rider Suresh sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to hospital.

The incident occurred at around 9 a.m. when the duo was on their way to work. The impact of the accident was so high that the motorcycle was mangled and struck under the bus. The Devanahalli police rushed to the spot and with the help of a crane pulled out the bike. The bus was on its way to Devanahalli from K.R. Puram.

The police have arrested the driver Malleshgowda and seized the bus for further investigation.
