Deputy Mayor N. Dayanand on Friday visited the Mahadevapura zone and interacted with beneficiaries of the 22.75 per cent scheme.
He said more awareness must be created about the schemes among the general public through display of posters and distributing pamphlets.
Y.R. Anand, a beneficiary, urged the Deputy Mayor to include barber's chair and mirror in the scheme for the Savitha Samaj community. Yellappa K.N., another beneficiary, was given an iron-box as part of the dhobi kit. A few other beneficiaries urged him to provide pushcarts.
Ambedkar Bhavan
Later, Mr. Dayanand inspected the construction of Ambedkar Bhavan at Survey Number 199 near the Outer Ring Road, Mahadevapura. The Ambedkar Bhavan and multi-purpose training centre is being constructed on two acres of land at a cost of Rs. 18 crore. He directed the officials to complete the construction within the scheduled time.
N.R. Sridhara Reddy, Doddanekundi councillor, accompanied the Deputy Mayor to an anganwadi centre and provided toys to the children there. He also handed over the keys of four houses (constructed under the 22.75 per cent scheme) to beneficiaries. Five more are under construction. Each house has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 3 lakh, with the beneficiary contributing 10 per cent of the total cost.
Railway overpass
Mr. Dayanand inspected Benniganahalli railway overpass. He said the construction had been delayed. Now the construction had been entrusted to the Karnataka Land Army he said, and added that the work would be completed in six months.
