September 24, 2013 12:13 am | Updated November 16, 2021 10:36 pm IST - Bangalore:

A 60-year-old money lender was reportedly kidnapped while he went out for morning walk on Magadi Road on the outskirts of the city on Monday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Ramanagaram) Ramalingappa said the victim has been identified as Muniyappa, a resident of Anjananagar. The incident came to light when the family members started searching for him when he did not return from the walk even after several hours.

Some residents told the family members that they saw Muniyappa getting into a Tata Indica car along with three men.

Suspecting something amiss, the family members complained to the Taverekere police who have taken up a case of kidnap and are investigating.

Police felt that the kidnappers are known to Muniyappa and suspect that property dispute could be the reason behind the crime. “We are also not ruling out the possibility of the involvement of borrowers behind the kidnap,” the police said.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that Muniyappa had a property dispute over a piece of land he owned in Herohalli situated on NICE Road. The dispute was going on for the past few years and this could be the reason behind his disappearance, the police said adding that they are on the lookout for the people with whom Muniyappa had dispute .
