March 02, 2013 09:03 am | Updated 09:03 am IST - Bangalore:

An engineering student from the city was kidnapped and murdered and his body was found dumped in a forest area in Malur.

Chetan Reddy, a resident of Chelakere near Kalyanagar in Hennur police limits, is the son of Ramaswamy Reddy, a landlord. Forest guards found the civil engineering student’s body stuffed in a gunny bag Thursday morning. .

Police, who said the body had multiple stab wounds, suspect the motive to be a property dispute or a crime of passion.

The 25-year-old’s identity was established after the police, who were verifying missing persons’ records, stumbled upon a complaint filed at the Hennur police station and the physical description matched that of the body. The family later confirmed it was Chetan. The body was handed over to them after an autopsy at the R.L. Jalappa Hospital in Kolar.

The Hennur police said the family had filed a missing complaint when Chetan did not return late Thursday and remained incommunicado despite calls to his cellphone.
