A businessman, who was reported missing from Chamarajpet on April 23, is said to have been kidnapped and murdered by five men known to him. The police, on Friday learnt that after murdering Krishnappa (53), the assailants buried his body near Kengeri. As the spot where the body was buried falls in the neighbouring Ramanagaram district, the body will be exhumed after obtaining permission from the jurisdictional tahsildhar, police sources told The Hindu on Friday. Senior police officials visited the spot.

Krishnappa, a printing press owner, was a resident of Kasturbanagar in Chamarajpet. He left his house on the morning of April 23. After some time, he telephoned his daughter Sowmya and told her to hand over Rs. 2 lakh to Ramesh, who would come to their house. Accordingly, Ramesh collected the money from her. Thereafter Krishnappa's mobile was switched off.

On April 24, Krishnappa's family filed a missing complaint with the Chamarajpet police. During the course of investigations, the police picked up three persons, Channappa, Shashi and Jagadish of Sunkadakatte on Magadi Road, and on questioning, learnt of the kidnap and murder of Krishnappa. The police are now looking for two others.
