A cab driver hanged himself minutes after his wife, reportedly frustrated over his alcohol addiction, committed suicide at their home in J.P. Nagar.
According to the police, Mallikarjuna B.N. (44) came home drunk on Friday and quarrelled with his wife Soubhagya. Disturbed beyond measure, she asked her 14-year-old son to go out and play, locked her husband in a room, and hanged herself.
By the time Mallikarjuna forced the door open, she was dead. A heartbroken Mallikarjuna hanged himself in another room. Neighbours, who were alerted by the son, broke open the doors to the house and found the dead couple. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were declared brought dead.
The couple, originally from Arsikere, also has a 19-year-old daughter working at a private firm.
