Meet on traffic decongestion held

Home Minister K. J. George on Monday held a meeting with top officials from the police department and the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to discuss measures for smooth traffic flow in the city.

Speaking to presspersons after the meeting, Mr. George said the meeting was necessitated as several traffic issues had cropped up, especially after the recent rains.

He said the BBMP had been asked to ensure there are no bottlenecks on the roads due to road digging work, potholes and craters.

BBMP Commissioner M. Lakshminarayana said the meeting was also to ensure coordination between the police department and the Palike in clearing bottlenecks.

Director General and Inspector General of Police Lalrokuma Pachau and Police Commissioner M N Reddi and other top officials attended the meet.

IAS official given protection

Replying to queries, Mr George said police protection had been provided to V Rashmi, Director General of Administrative Training Institute (ATI) in Mysore.

Refusing to comment anything more the case, he said the police were conducting an enquiry.
