The Central Board of Secondary Education will hold the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-UG 2017 on Sunday. This is the first year NEET is being conducted after the Common Entrance Test (CET) was scrapped for medical and dental aspirants; NEET is the only qualifying exam for medical and dental aspirants.

This year, 11,35,104 candidates have registered for the examination, compared to 8,02,594 last year, according to the Director (NEET). In Karnataka, the examination is being held in Bengaluru, Belagavi, Kalaburagi and Mangaluru.

AYUSH students to write exam

On February 18, the Central Council of Indian Medicine announced that students aspiring for a seat in any of the AYUSH streams (ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy, unani, siddha and homoeopathy) for 2017-2018 would also have to appear for NEET. Students had objected saying the announcement came too late.

Many AYUSH aspirants appeared for CET as well this year, but there is little clarity about the seat breakup.

Aadhaar card not a must

After some confusion, the CBSE on Friday issued a notification that in case candidates have uploaded the wrong photograph or signature, they should furnish either the original Aadhaar card or any government photo identity.
