Depressed over poor performance in exams, a fourth year MBBS student of Kempegowda Institute of Medical Science committed suicide by injecting himself with poison at his residence in J.P. Nagar on Tuesday night.

Nikshep (23), son of K.T. Nagaraj, BBMP Superintendent Engineer, went to his room following dinner, said the police.

The death came to light on Wednesday morning when Nikshep did not come out of his room.

When Mr. Nagaraj went to check around 9 a.m., the room was locked from inside.

Thinking that his son might be fast asleep, Mr. Nagraj knocked on the door. He got worried when there was no response from inside.

He immediately informed the other family members and broke open the door only to find his son lying unconscious.

He immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.

According to the police, Mr. Nagaraj stated that his son was depressed owing to poor performance in the recently concluded exams. This might have led him to ending his life. A case of unnatural death was registered in J.P. Nagar police station.
