Maulana Qadeer Ahmed passes away

Maulana Qadeer Ahmed (63), a Muslim cleric, passed away on Friday following a heart attack.

He was the State president of the All-India Milli Council and a member of All-India Muslim Personal Law Board. The funeral will be held on Saturday. He was also the member of the new moon committee in Karnataka.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, in his condolence message, described Maulana Qadeer Ahmed as the “towering personality among Muslim religious leaders in Karnataka”. Minister for Infrastructure Development and Haj R. Roshan Baig described him as an inspiration for maintaining communal harmony in society and practising secular values.
