The Regional Lok Adalat on environmental problems on Saturday criticised the Chickballapur district administration for misuse and mismanagement of lakes.
Lok Adalat member A.N. Yellappa Reddy took officials to task and said that in some cases, lake water was being officially diverted for construction purposes. He said this is in violation of a Supreme Court order on management of lakes.
He sought an affidavit from the district administration on encroachment of lake beds in the district and issued an order on preventing diversion of lake water for construction purposes.
