The Cubbon Park police on Friday detained a man who had expressed his love for Kannada film actor Ramya through an advertisement published in a supplement of an English daily in the city. However, he was let off on in the evening as his family reportedly said he had mental health issues.

The advertisement appeared on February 14. The arrested Venkat, aged about 35 years, a resident of Banashankari, had also advertised about a movie titled ‘Hucchha Venkat’ which is supposedly produced by him with the tagline stating it is based on a true story.

The advertisement stated that he was in love with the actor and that he would marry her by taking her to the Banashankari temple despite anyone trying to interfere or stop the marriage. Upon seeing the advertisement, Ms. Ramya lodged a complaint with the police and requested the officials to initiate action against the man for publishing about her in an offensive manner.

Based on this, the police arrested Venkat and are questioning him.
