Man, two sons drown in farm pond

A man and his two sons drowned in a farm pond at Rangapura in Sira taluk of Tumakuru district on Thursday afternoon.

The police said that they have been identified as Sakshyappa (45) of Gollarahalli, and his sons Naveen Kumar (15), studying in 10 Standard at Mannamma School in Pattanayakanahalli and Darshan (11), 5 Standard student of the Government school in Gollarahalli.

Sakshyappa and his sons left their house to tend to their sheep. Around noon, Darshan fell into the farm pond when he went there to drink water. Naveen Kumar, who tried to rescue his brother, also drowned. Their father, who went to rescue them, also drowned. The farm pond belongs to Nagaraj Gowda of Rangapura.

The bodies have been recovered and case has been registered in Pattanayakanahalli police station.
