A 35-year-old woman was strangled to death by her husband over domestic row at Sriramapura on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as Janaki Jyothi, wife of Chandrashekhar (42), a flower decorator by profession. The couple were married for 14 years and had four children.

According to the police, Chandrashekhar had deserted Jyothi four years ago and was living with his parents in Magadi. Jyothi joined as a security guard at a private firm and the couple’s children were studying in the BBMP school in Sriramapura. Two months ago, Chandrashekhar returned and the couple reconciled. However, he soon started to harass her and demanded money.

On Monday night, the couple had a fight. Chadrashekhar reportedly strangled Jyothi to death while she was sleeping and escaped. The incident came to light when Jyothi's eldest daughter woke up in the middle of the night and found her mother lying dead. She raised alarm, prompting the neighbours to rush to her help.

The Sriramapura police rushed to the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem. They have now launched a massive manhunt for Chandrashekhar.
