Man picked up for dacoity is involved in Muthoot murder case: police

The Bangalore police have claimed that the man they have picked up from Kerala in connection with a dacoity case has confessed to have been involved in the murder of Paul M. George, executive director of Muthoot M. George Group of companies.

The police took the accused, Kodali Sreedharan alias Panikkavalappil Veettil Sreedharan (49), into custody on Thursday.

Paul George was murdered on the Alappuzha-Changanassery Road in Alappuzha last month.

According to an officer of the Central Crime Branch, Kodali Sreedharan was arrested on September 11 in Kerala in connection with Hawala transaction. During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to have involved in several highway robberies and heists in Karnataka, Kerala and other States.

The Kerala police informed this to their counterparts in other States. Following this the Bangalore police picked him up in connection with the dacoity in a textile shop in Chickpet, the officer said.

A seven-member gang had made away with valuables, including cash, worth Rs. 40 lakh after stabbing the shop owner in July.
